Kip and I have been married for ten years. Luke just turned nine. Time has flown. When I look at the hundreds (thousands?) of pictures on my phone what I see is a lot of fun. I look at our smiles and I reflect on the adventures we've had and my spirits immediately lift.
I have worked in Silicon Valley for two decades doing PR. The job is at times rewarding, often addicting and pretty much always mentally exhausting. Shortly after Luke was born I was recruited to help launch the neighborhood social network Nextdoor. As the first VP of Communications at the company, I helped get the boulder up the hill, built an incredible team and realized if I didn't make a big change my mental health would suffer. More to the point, I realized "having it all" was a myth. I wouldn't be be able to keep up my career at that pace and be present to my family the way I so desperately wanted. Enter Lawless PR.
It was time to take the reins in my career and my life. Working for myself, creating my own hours and working with people I genuinely love has been a game changer. I have been fortunate, I have worked hard and I have really enjoyed this phase of my life. I owe a great deal of gratitude to Lawless PR for affording our family the freedom and financial wherewithal to have as many adventures as we have had. I also have gratitude to the women who blazed the trail before me including my hard working, encouraging mother who always believed in me. Without going out on my own I would never have found this much meaning and satisfaction in my life.
Beginning in my 20's I studied astrology under the great Steven Forrest for fifteen years and achieved "Master Astrologer" status in his apprenticeship program. I am blessed to not only call him my teacher but also my friend. My amazing husband Kip works as an environmental consultant to make a difference for us all on the ravages of climate change. He loves anything related to the 1980's and is passionate about his collection of vinyl records. My son Luke inspires me every day with his pursuit of knowledge regarding anything related to science, engineering and technology. These are the things that matter in my life.
I have to actively remember to put energy into the things I love like astrology, our flock of quirky chickens, seeing the world, my yoga practice, friendships and most importantly my family. Hence this blog. I believe where we put our focus is what grows. As I move into the next phase of life I am excited to put even more energy into our travels (road-schooling!), my passion for spiritual pursuits and our home. Thank you for indulging this journey of self exploration and being a part of it in whatever small way!
